Get Rich Quick is Alive and Well On Social Media

Get Rich Quick

The “Get Rich Quick” hustle is alive and well on social media. Most young men and women are bombarded by them on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. “Simply do what I did by learning from me for a thousand or thousands of dollars!!” It’s tempting to have all your financial dreams come true at a young age, but the chances are low.

Remember the old adage: People have always made way more money by selling advice than by taking it.

Digital literacy and financial literacy are tied together like never before. How can you help your kids or students understand the potential consequences of “investing” time and money into a “hustle guru”? Talk to them about patience. Explore other avenues for building wealth. Talk about ambition.

Ambition, wealth, competition, status, and ego, are all big parts of growing up and it’s important we talk to our kids about them early and often. If we don’t, the Get Rich Quick bros online will.

What would be some important questions you could explore?

-Hey hustle bro, how many people who took your course are, in fact, millionaires now? How did they do it? Can you prove that? Can I contact them?

-When did this hustle guru have all their success and has the market changed significantly since then to make their teachings obsolete?

-Could they look rich without actually having all the things they say they have?

-Is there another way I could gain this knowledge without paying someone large amounts of money?”
