We launched a very cool new privacy feature on the Kermode app.
We at Kermode know you take the privacy and security of your students and families seriously. If you’re thinking about adding Kermode to your school board or district we also know you abide by the Privacy laws in your province or state. And for good reason. It’s tough to think of a popular social media site, search engine, or, well, anything online that doesn’t capture, store, or sell your personal data.
At Kermode we’re not having any of it. We’re not interested in it for our kids so we’re not interested in it for your kids or your students either. In an effort to improve the privacy and personalization of our app, we came up with a very clever way for students to create personalized work while using our technology anonymously. We never collect, store, or sell any student information.
Here’s how we do it:
When a student uses the Kermode app to evaluate online content and improve their critical thinking skills, they copy and paste the website they want to evaluate and hits the ANALYZE button. Once analyzed the app gives the feedback page its own unique URL. The text the student enters into the answer box will stay with the URL. This way a student can copy and paste the unique URL, distribute the link to their teacher, group, or parent via email, Google Classroom…whatever way they think is the most safe and efficient, and when their intended recipient clicks on that unique URL they will see the Kermode analysis and the student’s answers.
With this innovative approach, you can feel confident that your personal information is safe when you’re using Kermode and that you’re abiding by all local Privacy laws as they apply to students.
