NEW! Wikipedia Feature

Love it or hate it  Wikipedia is here to stay, so keep reading to see how the NEW Kermode Wikipedia Feature can help students and families better understand its benefits of limitations.

Wikipedia is often ranked as one of the top 15 most used websites in the world. It has over 6 million articles and garners upwards of 255 million pageviews a day to it’s English language articles alone.

Your students will be exposed to information on Wikipedia throughout their lives so it’s incredibly important for them to understand how articles on Wikipedia are created and edited so they can fully evaluate it as a source.

When you’re searching for almost anything online you’ll inevitably find a link to a Wikipedia article. If your student copies a Wikipedia article into the Kermode app to be analysed, the app recognizes that and displays a Wikipedia element first.

The element has a Wikipedia graphic to identify it and engage visual learners. Then it asks a series of exploratory inquiry questions around how Wikipedia articles are written, edited, and how Wikipedia makes money and operates. There is also a “Good to Know” section that puts the benefits and limitations of Wikipedia into context.

The Kermode Wikipedia Feature is an excellent starting point for students and families to explore how Wikipedia can help or hinder your research and your understanding of a topic.
